About me
My name is Aleksandar and I am a theoretical physicist by training. I did my PhD in computational physics, where I combined two things I really enjoy: doing science and programming computers. My interests were mainly in condensed matter physics - things like Monte Carlo simulations of phase transitions, representing quantum states using neural networks, and applying methods of statistical physics to improve the efficiency of neural network training.
After my PhD I started working at an energy trading company, where I worked on trading infrastructure and the implementation of our trading strategies. Soon I will be starting a new chapter in my career.
In my free time I like riding bicycles (living in the Netherlands, it’s the perfect place to do so). Besides self powered two-wheeled vehicles, I also enjoy riding my dead-dinosaur powered motorcycle. I am more of an adventure rider, enjoying some off-road riding as well.
For me, working on optimizing code and trying to make it more efficient is the same kind of research I used to do in physics, but now applied to computers. It also includes its fair share of experimentation and data analysis.
